What are the similarities and differences between 2.4G and 5.8G wireless bridges?
2020-08-17 16:09
We have introduced the working principle and specific applications of wireless bridges before, but we have not sorted out the similarities and differences between the two.
2.4G and 5.8G refer to two different frequency bands used by wireless bridges. Their similarity is that they are both used for bridges and belong to civilian frequency bands, so there is no need to apply to the Commission for filing.
They have the same point, but there are many differences.
First, they have different transmission speeds due to different standards. For example, 2.4G is divided into 802.11b or 802.11G or 802.11GN, and the bandwidth of this wireless LAN can reach up to 11Mbps, but we say that 5.8G is divided into two Standard 802.11a or 802.11an, and is specified up to 54Mbps data rate.
Second, the 2.4G wireless bridge can be used as a WIFI hotspot, which can be connected to the Internet after being directly received by a computer or other WIFI device, while 5.8G cannot be connected directly.
Third, the 5.8G signal suffers less interference than 2.4G, but its penetrating ability is weaker and it is easily absorbed by metals or other obstacles. Therefore, it is recommended to use positive and negative frequency division technology at the same time to process the signal transmission and reception. Be more stable.
Fourth, 2.4G has a stronger diffraction ability than 5.8G. If it is indoors and not far away, it is recommended to use a bridge of this frequency band.
Fifth, 5.8G equipment has a longer transmission distance than 2.4G equipment, and its stability is relatively better.

Gonaite kindly reminds you that if long-distance transmission without barriers is required, 5.8G frequency band will be the first choice. If it is indoor, short-distance, and diffraction-required transmission, then 2.4G will be the first choice.
Gonaite has been specialized in the research and development, production and sales of industrial communication equipment for 13 years. Industrial switches, optical transceivers, optical fiber transceivers and other models are complete and rich in types. Welcome to learn more.
